ST. GEORGE, UT  HOW TO CHOOSE A MOTEL  But choosing a motel is quite another thing. Clean, handy, non-smoking are our requirements. We don't care about the pool or even the breakfast in the morning. We do care about stains on the carpet, a bed spread that is stained and a bathroom that leaves us feeling a little wozzy!  Read more...

OREGON WINERIES AND MORE
Stag Hollow Vista

This part of the world is very, very green. The views from a high point in the valley will take your breath away. Verdant fields, blooming clover and grape vines line every road. The wine tasting tours are only surpassed by what you might find in the Sonoma/Napa Valley area in California...and then not by much.  Read more...

EXPATS PURCHASING MOTOR HOMES
My friend has a motor home parked next to her now.  The owners are from Austria.  They have come to the United States to travel so they purchased a second hand motor home and a new car to tow behind it.  They will stay for two weeks, travel in the western United States and then return to the park to store their RV.  They have Arizona license plates and a Tucson, AZ address.  Friends in town are helping them. SNOW BIRDS TRAVELING AND LIVING WITH PETS
Do RV resorts allow pets?  And if they do what will be the restriction?  These are very valid questions and ones that you need to ask before you park your RV, buy or rent a park model.  RV resort are much like motels when it comes to our pets.   In our RV resort there are two locations that pets are allowed.  At the back of the park there is a block of lots that are designated for pets called "Doggy Row".  Read more...

PATTERNS SNOW BIRDS FOLLOW
A friend that lives in Florida wrote me a note on my Face Book account today.  His comment was that people come to Florida for two or three month and repeat this pattern for a couple of years.  In the end they usually buy a park model or condo and come back to the same place every year.  Read more...

LIVING SMALL IN A PARK MODEL
Apartment Therapy...got the cramps?  You heard me right!  At both ends of our lives we seem to live in cramped spaces.  When we are starting out, we live in a space that barely lets you change you mind let alone rearrange the furniture.  I am one of those people at the other end of that life...the retired, downsized mature person living in small spaces once again.  And you know what....I LOVE IT!!!  I rearrange my furniture and change my mind...I  have less of both at this time in my life.  Read more....

2008 POST...EVOLUTION OF SNOW BIRD LIVING
October, 2008

I am in the desert...back in the Waiting Room for Heaven. We are early this years so we are waiting patiently for the rest of the people to arrive. Some will be along soon, some are not well enough to come and some are already here. We love the serenity of this place. We are never lonely, we are never wanting for things to do and our friends are so close that we can just walk across the street to visit.  Read more...

THOUGHTS ON WANDERING
What is that thing called wanderlust?  My grandmother was born on the cusp of a new century riding in a carriage drawn by horses.  Her home was a canyon that held mines and brothels.  The railroad was the one built by her father.  Even though she never traveled to far away places, she lived with her hat hung close to the front door.  If she heard the word "go" she would always be ready before the driver could find his coat.  Read more...

MIGRATION OF THE SNOW BIRDS...I'M DREAMING ABOUT A VACATION ON THE WAY TO A VACATION.

The Snow Birds (retired boomers) are beginning to be restless.  A few fly south early, wanting to get in that extra bit of sun.  Many have been stuck in the snow in early October and learned the lessons taught by Mother Nature.  The cautious travelers along with those that love the second home as much as the first leave early. Migration and talk of migration fills the hearts and minds of America's retired population.  read more....

HOW TO CHOOSE A RV PARK?  10 IDEAS
I saw an article yesterday talking about how a person can regret their choice of apartments. No electrical outlets, noisy streets, dark rooms and shrinking space that become more apparent after moving in can send renters over the edge.  Renters remorse sets in but a lease has been signed so the tenant is stuck.  Finding the right resort to spend the winter in can be just as hard. I have some ideas that will help you narrow down that long list of "perfect" snowbird locations. Read more....
